Want to learn how to be a green gardener?
- Woodland Park Zoo hosts Backyard Habitat Workshop -
WHAT: Join Woodland Park Zoo, National Wildlife Federation, Seattle Audubon, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Washington Native Plant Society for this four part informative workshop on creating habitat for wildlife. Meet experts and get hands-on experience that will show how to: attract birds and other wildlife to your backyard, select and care for native plants, recognize and remove invasive plants species, conserve water, manage your backyard without the use of chemical herbicides and pesticides, place feeders and bird houses, and get your backyard, schoolyard or community garden certified as a Backyard Habitat. Come and learn with fellow gardeners of all levels!
WHEN: This is a four-part workshop:
- Monday, October 5, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Monday, October 12, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Monday, October 19, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Workshop classes are held in the zoo’s ARC building near the West Entrance at N. 55th St. & Phinney Ave N.
COST: $75 (or $140 for couples). Scholarships are available for Phinney Neighborhood Association members.
